Newly signed Interscope Records rapper Iggy Azalea has caught the contagious Tupac Shakur fever as seen in her performing a new record inspired by the late rap mogul this week in Los Angeles.
According to reports, the late rap mogul's legacy inspired Iggy to pen her new record "Picture Me Rollin'"
Australian upstart Iggy Azalea returned to Hollywood for her first live performance in town since she announced plans for her major-label debut, The New Classic, due later this year. Sporting a black Tupac-emblazoned tank top (or was it a bodysuit?) and her signature flying ponytail, Iggy launched into her late-night set at Hollywood's Dim Mak Studios with "Hello", the first track off her buzzy Ignorant Art mixtape. Through a raucous 45-minute set, she managed to throw "Superior P***y" t-shirts -- and cash -- into the crowd, invited fans on-stage for a dance-off, and unveiled a new song, "Picture Me Rollin'". Catch video of her busting out the new Tupac-inspired jam. (Idolator)
The record is reportely produced by Young Money affiliiate hitmaker Boi-1da.
? That's not to say her live show doesn't have potential. She's appealing to both men and women, gay and straight, and obviously engaged in the physical aspects of performing. She danced and seemed to have good breath control, although she rapped over her tracks, a personal pet peeve. The most interesting moment of her short set was the announcement of a new song with the 'Pac-lifted refrain, "Picture me rollin'," produced by none other than Boi-1da, megastar beatmaker for Drake and Eminem. You can bet that will draw some ire. (LA Weekly)
A few months ago, Iggy dishes her admiration for 2Pac.
"I used to love 2Pac. I was obsessed with him. When I was 13, I heard 'Baby Don't Cry' by 2Pac and The Outlawz at my next-door neighbors' house. I didn't really love any music until then, I just loved what was on the radio. Then I heard that song and I don't know what it was about it that made me love it so much." (Complex)
Own thoughts my TAT family and others? Newly signed to InterscopeRecords..lol..You all know that Interscope is one of the biggest labels in thiscorrupted music industry..Jimmy Iovine, don't underrestimate him..He's a very powerful man. When the Death Row empire vanished, guess who got that money?
We all know..anyways congrats to her success and using Tupac as her inspiration!
